Coloring on kraft card stock

Hi! Today I’d like to share two cards I made using images colored on kraft card stock. I first stamped kraft card stock with different stamps from the Summer Flowers stamp set by Simon Says Stamp, using kraft ink. I then colored those images with Prismacolor pencils. I love how pencils look on kraft! It’s quite a bit different than on white or black card stock. I also added a little sparkle using Kaisercraft glitter gel pens (I ❤️ them!). Here’s the finished result:

I decided to make two very different cards with these images after I die cut them with the corresponding dies. I entered both into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr and  Wednesday challenges.

In the first, I cut a panel of kraft card stock using the Simon Says Stamp wonky die. For a little bit of interest in the background, I colored through a small square stencil with diagonal lines using a white pencil. I also stamped a few hearts using white pigment ink. I chose the pink flower, some of the leaves and the bird of paradise head and stem/leaves. Using foam tape, I adhered the flowers to the card and then adhered the panel to a white card base. Here it is:

For my second card, I cut a black card stock panel with the wonky die. I stamped ‘thinking of you’ from Concord and 9th’s Lily stamp set in white pigment ink. The words were faint even after stamping multiple times with my Misti, so I used a white gel pen to go over the ‘you’ a few more times. I also stamped a few hearts using Tsukineko delicata pink shimmer pigment ink (this comes out very faint on black card stock, but I was happy with the results). I adhered the blue and purple flowers and some leaves with foam tape. I wanted to use a light blue card base, but didn’t have quite the right color on hand, so I found a piece of pattern paper that matched from a 6×6 Pebbles Jen Hatfield pattern paper pad.

That’s it for now. I’ll try to post more regularly, but tax season is starting up, so things may be a little sporadic for the next few months.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy new year card

Hi, all! Today I am sharing a shaker card using various products from Simon Says Stamp and a die cut from Hero Arts for both the SSS Wednesday challenge and the SSS Flickr challenge. The Wednesday challenge is ‘something new’ showcasing Hero Arts products and the Flickr challenge is ‘something new’ showcasing SSS products. For my new products, I used Daniel smith watercolors and the SSS retro deer die.

I started out by painting a watercolor panel with a few different Daniel smith watercolors to make it look like a cloudy sky. I then die cut SSS white glitter paper with the SSS oval bare tree collage die. I adhered acetate to the die cut panel and added two layers of double sided tape behind that. I filled the shaker with silver confetti and pressed the watercolor panel onto that. I then glued the shaker to a white card base.

I die cut the Hero Arts happy out of Neenah solar white card stock and embossed it multiple times with a red glitter embossing powder. I glued that to the top of the card. Then I die cut the SSS deer from silver glitter card stock and added a little drop of Nuvo crystal drops in autumn red to his nose (LOVE this deer!). I glued the deer onto the card using Ranger multi medium matte.

Finally, I embossed ‘new year’ in silver on SSS red card stock and die cut using a small banner die. I added the die cut to the lower part of the card using foam tape.

In the second photo, I shook the card so that the confetti was all over.

thanks so much for joining me 😊
