Hi! Today I have another entry into the Simon says stamp flickr challenge:
I made this card using the SSS January 2018 card kit. ❤️ This kit with the glitter dust and cute heart stickers! The flickr challenge (#88) is watercolor, so I decided to use distress inks in worn lipstick, spun sugar, and picked raspberry.
But first, I used double-sided tape to mask off four diagonal stripes on the card. I then stamped the xoxo stamp from the kit using versamark ink and embossed it using SSS rose gold embossing powder. I used an acrylic block to smush the distress inks on, added a little water, and painted the panel using the three pinks.
I let the panel dry for a while because glitter plus wet ink doesn’t mix very well! The glitter dust in the kit is super fine and VERY messy! After I felt the panel was dry enough, I peeled the tape backing off and poured glitter all over it, myself, the floor, and everything else on my craft desk… ugh. I burnished the glitter into the tape with my fingers and then used a dry paint brush to clear as much of the wayward glitter off of the card as possible. I attempted to put the glitter back in the container but that didn’t go very well either. A tip I picked up from Jennifer McGuire is to use swiffer duster cloths to clean glitter and it does work really well.
After I cleaned the glitter, the panel looked like this:
I cut a panel from the doll pink card stock in the kit to be a little larger than the watercolored panel and used double-sided foam tap to adhere them together. I glued the panels to a white top folding card base and added two of the super cute puffy heart stickers 😊. Here is another look at the card (standing up so lighting is a little different):
Thanks for joining me!
